About Tacoma Narrows Stanchions
The Tacoma Narrows Stanchions sit directly beneath the twin Tacoma Narrows Bridges, where the sound funnels through a channel that drops to 232 feet in the middle of the crossing. Two entries make up the dive site. The East Side descent lands on a rocky slope with a cobblestone bottom in 30 to 80 feet of water. The West Stanchion entry runs a free fall to 120 feet past the west bridge pier, with big lingcod and octopus recorded along it.
