About Sunnyside Beach Park
Sunnyside Beach Park sits on the Steilacoom waterfront a short distance north of Saltar's Point, at 2509 Chambers Creek Road. The site is a gently sloping sandy beach with 1,400 feet of saltwater shoreline and two underwater features that draw divers: an abandoned sewer pipeline running offshore from the wind pavilion, and a scatter of small wrecks off the pilings area to one side. From the entry, the bottom slopes out to a maximum depth in the 61 to 70 foot range, and the site is not current sensitive, which is why it sees regular use as a beginner training beach.
